Abstract :
The work described in this paper deals with the design and analysis studies of two proposed rotor architectures for the line start permanent magnet synchronous motor, which can fit into the same frame size of induction motor. The proposed motors are quite suitable to replace the induction motors in the applications where high starting torque is expected. The transient and steady state performances of the proposed motors are studied by using two dimensional finite element analysis, and analytical models.
