    We describe how ERS and Radarsat radar images are used to map slicks on the ocean surface. Offshore Basin ScreeningTM is the commercial proprietary service that has been created to map slicks routinely. It features the discrimination of those slicks originating from naturally seeping petroleum from those resulting from pollution and those composed of a widespread natural film
