Abstract :
The transmission line experiences imperfect ground reference plane due to smaller size and less layer count package. The paper investigates such routings with imperfect reference plane such as voided ground, mixed power/ground scheme plane and ground fingers. Simulations are done to demonstrate the sensitivity and comparison over conventional perfect ground reference. Mitigation solutions to these broken reference cases are discussed as well.
