  • Abstract
In the packaging industry the speed of packaging machines is a major factor in determining the quantity of packaged product being produced. For meat and pharmaceutical packaging there are several manufacturers who make packaging machine of various speed. The speed of a standard Tiromat 430 and 560 machine is between 8 to 10 cycle per minute. For product, such as beef jerky and pharmaceutical tablets, operating the packaging machine at higher speed is an advantage because it increases the overall productivity of the machinery. We have designed and fabricated a digital controller system that will increase the speed of the Tiromat machines from 8 to 22 cycles per minute. The performance of the machine has been tested and found to have a significant enhancement in speed compared to a standard Tiromat machine
