Abstract
This paper studies the application of cascade STATCOM to improve the voltage stability of grid-connected wind farm. Firstly, a novel reactive power cooperative control strategy is proposed. Under this control strategy, the output of wind farm can remain stable during the wind changing rapidly and system fault. Further, the whole system model is established in PASCAD/EMTDC. At the end of paper, the simulation results show that cascade STATCOM can improve the voltage stability under steady state and three-phase short fault.
