Abstract :
This paper proposes a high performance controller in a phase variable approach for multiphase brushless DC motors. Initially, a BLDC model is presented, where the uncertainties and disturbances intrinsic to the system are accounted as perturbation terms added to the nominal model. Then a controller design procedure that guarantees the BLDC stability is presented in detail. It is demonstrated that a very fast dynamic behavior can be obtained with the proposed controller; which improves the transient response of the motor, particularly under conditions of parameter uncertainties and strong coupling between the phases. Simulation results are given to support the theoretical analysis and to illustrate the performance of the BLDC with the proposed controller. Experimental results of PI control are presented.
