Abstract
In this work, application of fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller is proposed for position control of six-phase induction machine (6PIM) in healthy and faulty mode due to open phases. This paper employs genetic algorithm (GA) to carry out the FOPID design procedure. GA is a stochastic global search optimization technique based on the mechanisms of natural selection. A novel cost function is defined to facilitate the control strategy over both the time-domain and the frequency-domain specifications.
