Abstract
To read a digital magnetically stored data stream from tape or disk a three-valued magnetic field hip-hop sensor is presented which uses the metastability property of a stochastic dip-hop sensor to detect signal transitions. The metastable operation point can be controlled to optimize data readout for data and track detection
