Abstract :
The relationship between economic development and enviroment quality has become a big concern for the world, especially for developing countries. This paper, taking Shaanxi in west region as an example, analyzed the relationship between economy and enviroment through the Enviromental Kuznets Curves(EKC). The result showed that the relationship between economic development and enviroment not only takes a simple U shape, but also some other shapes, including a U followed by an inverted U, and a N shape, which has something to do with the choosing of index and measuring method, the progression of regional industrialization and the strategies taken. Now Shaanxi, still facing with great enviromental stress, must furtherly search out the way to change the style of economic growth, that is, to apply the ecological growth pattern which demands for less materials with every effort through the "new industrialization tunnel".
