Abstract :
Use of the delta operator in narrowband digital filters results in reduced implementation complexity compared to traditional filter implementations. Reduction in implementation complexity of up to 50% can be achieved in very narrow-band filtering applications. The possibility of using the reduced complexity of delta realizations for designing digital filters with low power consumption is studied in this paper. Capacitive voltage transitions are the main source of power consumption in digital CMOS circuits. By reducing the implementation complexity, the number of switching gates is also reduced, thus resulting in lower power consumption
