Abstract
This paper presents a nonlinear PID controller which combines an adaptive algorithm to cope with the problem of tuning the PID controller, and an associative memory to store the parameters of the controller according to different operating regions, which are defined by some exogenous variables. The special characteristic of associative memories and the properties of their learning algorithms are fully exploited. To illustrate the performance of the controller several examples are given
