  • Abstract
Today efforts are made to answer to problems regarding an advanced design of electrical machines in accord with global demarche for optimization. Optimal design of asynchronous motors is a process of selection with fulfillment of criteria or specific conditions. In such way the current problems of manufacturers of electrical machines regard reduction of specific consumption of energy, obtaining superior operating characteristics, and perspective to diminish operational expenses. The paper analyzes, based on advanced numerical methods, all constructive dimensions and determine their influence on total cost for medium power asynchronous motors. The results of simulations performed, bring necessary quantitative and qualitative information to define the optimal constructive solution, taking into account also restrictive conditions imposed by beneficiary. For final variant of motor, thru a correct choice of constructive dimensions, it obtains an increase of startup torque, keeping the total cost and startup current between imposed limits.
