Abstract
This paper presents a simple PC-based tool for the design and testing of controllers for electrical drives employed in industrial automation. This tool provides both the hardware support to command different actuators, and the software facilities to develop and test algorithms for the identification and the regulation of converter-fed motors. The use of both standard routines and user-written programs is outlined, in order to define a convenient way to design a control fulfilling the performances required. Applications to different drives are reported, showing that the results of off-line identification routines are subsequently used for the self-tuning of speed controllers according to various procedures
