Abstract
In this paper a system concept and measurements are reported, that demonstrate the feasibility of employing transmit signals according to the IEEE 802.11p standard for joint radar and communication applications. With this approach the rescores spectrum and transmit are power simultaneously used for radar sensing and communication. As transmit signal common Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signals based on the standard IEEE 802.11p for Car-to-Car (C2C) communications are used. Further, a modification of the standard waveform occupying an additional spectrum in the adjacent ISM band is proposed for performance improvement. Beside introducing the theory, the performance is finally shown by measurements in real traffic scenarios, using a demonstrator with specifically designed antennas for integration in a car bumper.
