            Abstract :
Describes the initial development of a biomechanical modelling tool for preoperative surgical planning on the human knee. The work has successfully demonstrated the feasibility of applying physically-based modelling techniques to this problem and has generated sufficient interest amongst orthopaedic surgeons to warrant extending the model to three dimensions
