Abstract :
This paper presents examples and demonstrations of the control theory applied to industrial digital data tape drive transport control. Practical issues with multiple-input multiple-output system modeling, feedback control design, and compensation implementation are presented. Examples are given for transports that use and not use a tension transducer.
