  • Abstract
    In this paper, we presented a novel image filtering algorithm (EdgeFilter) using image edge detection and preservation for image enhancement. The proposed algorithm firstly defines the region direction gradient to detect the image edge pixel with dynamic threshold control, and then it implements a modified hybrid filter method to each edge pixel and each smoothing pixel, which aims at preserving the image edges and suppressing the noises in the operation of image filtering. Experiment results illustrate that EdgeFilter can improve the edge preserving performance in terms of PSNR and Edge Similarity which indicates the performance of edge preserving.
