Abstract :
Host based designs have become a serious bottleneck in energy management systems (EMS). Functional requirements will continue to grow much faster than throughput in host based systems resulting in deteriorating response times and performance. The new distributed design based on open system architecture is the solution for this problem and will be the platform for a new era in power system control
