  • Abstract
In order to research the problem of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in an electric power substation and the transient electromagnetic fields produced by the normal switching operations, the singularity expansion method (SEM) is used to compute the distributed currents on the busbar. Assuming the earth to be a perfectly conducting plane, the transient current under the unit step-function excitation is calculated. Because the basic parameters of the SEM depend only on the constructs parameters of the busbar, the SEM needs a few modifications as the excitation changes
