Abstract
Body-Centric Wireless Communications (BCWCs) using wearable wireless devices have received an increasing amount of attention due to many applications such as medical care system, identification system and entertainment. In this review paper, we introduce a low-profile dual-mode (on- / off- body modes) wearable antenna for medical applications. In on-body mode, the proposed antenna is similar to a pair of metal electrodes operating at 10MHz and in off-body mode, with an L-shaped slit embedded, the antenna can cover the 2.45 GHz ISM band. Some simulated and measured results are shown to verify the proposed antenna.
