            Abstract : 
The smart-card based remote user authentication is one of the important practical solutions for creating a secure computer environment. In this paper, I propose a new remote password authentication technique using linear equations. Our scheme does not require a system to maintain a password table for verifying the legitimacy of login users. In addition our scheme can withstand message-replaying attack by embedding a time stamp that helps to produce a time-dependent login request.
