Abstract :
This paper presents a simple and compact architecture to realize DoA estimation for wireless communications. The system is based on a phased array, realized through digital beamforming. The physical displacement between the elements is less than ½ wavelength, which leads to a compact design. A prototype 1 × 2 array, including a proper analog front end and an FPGA based embedded system, controlled by a computer is assembled and measured.
