Abstract
This paper gives a simple derivation of the lowest current and potential modes for a lumped excitation of a vertical half-circular loop above conducting ground (analog to the TEM mode for the lumped source excitation of an infinite wire above perfectly conducting ground). The connection between these modes and parameters of the full-wave transmission line theory (FWTL) is investigated.
