            Abstract : 
With the rapid development of socio-economic, the output of steel, which is one of the most important production materials in China, has been getting a significant growth. As a result of that, market puts forward new demands for steel logistics service. In this paper, traditional model of steel logistics is analyzed on the basis of a comprehensive previous studies. According to a new social required standard for steel logistics services, the authors propose a new model of steel logistics based on modern supply chain management (SCM) theory, as well as new developments in steel logistics areas prospected.
