Abstract :
Lasers based on carbonic gas are one of the most widespread gas lasers. It successfully combines many positive characteristics, inherent to gas lasers: simplicity of the production; availability of gases, comprising an active medium; and possibility of the realization of both continuous and impulsive method of operation whilst preserving a constant level of laser radiation. Such diversified advantages open wide applications to CO2 lasers, which are used as a source of coherent radiation of comparatively small power. But chaotic pulsation of the intensity of the radiation in the mode of free generation hinders practical application of such lasers. For practical aims it is necessary to manage the power, spatial, and temporal distribution of the laser radiation. The simplest way to increase the power is to use the method of the managing of the Q-factor of the resonator. Passive modulation of the Q-factor is based on application of the nonlinear elements
