Abstract :
The question of a vertical refractivity gradient estimation is discussed herein. Artificial neural networks have been used as a tool to verify the existence of an unambiguous relationship between the vertical refractivity gradient and the electromagnetic wave strength measured at multiple heights by three antennas with direct visibility on the transmitter (line-of-sight links). Specific results of the estimation are presented and compared with meteorological measurements.
