            Abstract :
GSM has become the global standard in digital wireless communications. While the GSM architecture and modulation formats are widely known, the unique issues involved in the design of a GSM base station power amplifier are not. We present the challenges involved in the design of a GSM base station power amplifier. We also present the RF lineup of an amplifier designed by Hewlett Packard, meeting the specification of the Extended GSM standard
