Abstract :
Pitching scenes were retrieved using the motion quantities statistically generated from the motion vectors on each block of each video frame. The specific pitching scenes were picked up using arithmetic operations in accordance with the averages and standard deviations of statistical data of pitching scenes collected from the target scenes tested and reference pitching scene previously obtained. The decision on the pitching scenes was made in accordance with the results of the check of whether data fell within the statistically defined range. The optimum number of contiguous frames and other important optimum parameters used for the tests were determined in accordance with the experimental method. Obtained were recall rates of 80 to 84 percents and precision rates of 50 to 70 percents.
