Abstract :
In this paper, a new approach for bandwidth enhancement of slot array antenna is presented. The idea is to use fractal-shaped slots to increase bandwidth for return loss less than -10dB up to 12.1% which is about 2.5 times that of the conventional one. The proposed antenna is designed at the operating frequency range of 10.850 GHz to 12.250 GHz targeting in x-band applications such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. The Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology is effectively used to feed the slots and therefore the proposed antenna has the advantages of low-profile, low-cost and broadband.
