Abstract :
The paper proposes the method of bringing intelligence in operation of the overcurrent protection scheme. The technique uses the wavelet transform as signal processing tool for fault detection in combination with inverse time overcurrent characteristics. The system under study is simulated with PSCAD/EMTDC. The captured signals are processed and analyzed with MATLAB. The results presented here showed that proposed technique detects various fault conditions.
