Abstract :
This paper proposes a new method of detecting type of faults on a three phase transmission line by using Petri net theory. A marked graph is presented by using various phase sequence combinations for identifying phase to ground and phase to phase faults. The proposed methodology is more efficient than the traditional approaches specially when the complexity of the problem increases. This model may also be extended to identify other types of faults also.
