Abstract :
Surface integral equations of the second kind are applied for solving electromagnetic scattering by composite perfectly conducting metallic and homogeneous dielectric objects with junctions. The solution accuracy of the integral equations of the second kind, discretized with high-order basis functions, is compared with the solution accuracy of the integral equations of the first kind, discretized with low-order Rao-Wilton-Glisson basis functions. In the case of composite objects with junctions and sharp metallic wedges significantly finer mesh density and higher order basis functions are required to obtain accurate results in the integral equations of the second kind.
