Abstract :
A 500+ sun high intensity, dense array CPV system, the StarGen™ solar concentrator, was designed and built. The StarGen™ solar concentrator was designed to capitalize on the unique features of the high intensity, high performance PhotoVolt™ solar cell. Unique characteristics of the PhotoVolt™ solar cell enable very dense packing of solar cells, resulting in a 12 m2 solar concentrator system with two focal points, each containing 100 cm2 of cells. It is this dense array CPV system design approach that GreenField Solar believes will long-term deliver the lowest cost per kWh of electricity.
