Abstract
In this paper the impact of the direction depended antenna impulse response on localization accuracy in impulse-based locating systems is discussed. As an example, the Impulse Radio Ultra-Wideband (IR-UWB) indoor locating system is taken and the positioning precision is analyzed for different antenna types. Further, an iterative compensation algorithm is proposed to mitigate the antenna impact. Finally, measurement results with and without the correction method are presented.
