Abstract :
In power systems, congestion occurs frequently in weakly connected network due to overloading or voltage security requirements. Congestion may cause system stability problem, power quality problem and additional costs (congestion costs) in power systems. This paper focuses on topics concerning the congestion due to voltage security requirements. Uniform pricing system is discussed and congestion management model is set up. The impacts of the congestion are evaluated by comparing the results deduced from the modified IEEE 30-bus test system at different operating conditions. The results indicate that this kind of congestion has an effect on system operation, security, reliability, nodal prices, losses and generating costs. So in power market, it must be carefully dealt with. And the proposed congestion management model may be easily used in developing countries like China.
