Abstract :
From the perspective of human resources management, this survey discusses the correlations between job burnout in college teachers and school environment by means of Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) and School Environmental Scale, in which 416 college teachers are involved. The findings indicate the status of job burnout in college teachers is not severe according to theoretical value, but as for the dimension of “emotion exhaustion”, the subjects get a higher score with the implicit feature. Generally speaking, college teachers have a comparatively low opinion of their school environment, in which the material conditions are considered the most unsatisfactory. Negative correlations exist between each environmental factor and each job burnout factor, and except the material conditions, all the other factors of school environment have significantly negative correlations with the total score of job burnout in college teachers (p <; 0.01). Moreover, “interpersonal relationships” and “influence of the president” play the role of predicting teachers´ job burnout. Based on the empirical evidence above, the author further puts forward some management strategies and countermeasures concerning the job design, performance evaluation, excitation mechanism, management system, and organizational climate, so as to relieve the job burnout in college teachers.
