Abstract

In this paper, a new UWB polarization switchable antenna is presented. It is composed of a microstrip circular ring with two switches that are used to operate the antenna either as a disc monopole or as magnetic loop antenna. One of the switches is used to close the disc giving in this case a disc monopole. The other switch is used to connect the extremity of the disc to the ground plane, which gives a magnetic loop. This antenna can be a good candidate for radios operating in an environment with changing polarization; a good example of such radios is wearable antenna radios.
