Abstract
The development of more comfortable seats is an important issue in the product design. In fact, comfort is a difficult concept to apply in evaluating a chair. In this paper, the aim of this work is to evaluate the differences of human motion for subjects seated in an Ergokinetic™ Split Seat chair and seated in a standard office chair. The method used, based on optical motion capture system and JACK software, has allowed the measurement of large set of human motion, post-processing all motion track data files to JACK software, then use TAT report tools to output data and analyzed the relative motions data by MATLAB software. Meanwhile a new questionnaire is designed to evaluate split chair comfort. The result showed that the angles of trunk, hips and knees are important features for evaluating a chair.
