Abstract :
Identification on odd/even fields is one of problems in digital video processing for picture sequences only included in the active video. A new approach to automated detection of field orders is proposed in this paper. The method which adopts horizontal edge detection to obtain horizontal edge picture, then compares to the vertical energy attained by accumulating the value of every pixel in the edge picture, does not rely on blanking intervals and synchronizing information. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is effective.
