Abstract :
Avionics customers want to buy robust systems for as little cost as possible. One way to reduce life cycle cost is to reduce the number of parts used and to use as many commercially available parts as possible. To this end, Sanders has been exploring the capability and availability of commercial networks. This report identifies and analyzes commercial based network technologies for avionics unified network applications. Most of these candidate technologies are still maturing or are just emerging. The intent of this network trade study is to provide a snapshot of the candidates in their current status to establish criteria for both near term and long term selections
