Abstract :
The CMS electromagnetic calorimeter will provide a very precise measurement of the energy of electrons and photons at LHC. In order to reach the goal resolution a quality control process is actually ongoing for all the components of the detector, that is being assembled in a distributed fashion worldwide. Recently, a revision of the readout electronics has been performed, allowing for reduction of complexity and substantial cost saving. In this paper we will describe the calorimeter properties, the associated readout electronics design and the prospects for its precise calibration.
