Abstract :
Analytical results of the capacitor placement for radial distribution power systems are presented in this paper. Based on the analytical results, a simple approximate optimal capacitor placement algorithm is proposed. Unlike existing optimal capacitor placement algorithms, the proposed algorithm formulates the optimal capacitor placement problem in a simple form instead of an integer nonlinear programming problem. The proposed algorithm guarantees to approximately reach the global optimal solution, with a small number of calculations. Simulation results of the proposed algorithm on 10 bus system and 30 bus system are presented in this paper.
