Abstract
The use of digital technology for data acquisition and process of electric power quality events results in the growth the increase of available data , which need to be transferred and stored to be post, processed. Therefore much research has recently been carried out in the area of data compression in order to reduce the size of the files that contain the stored data and reduce the communication time. In this paper different data compression methods are reviewed and their application to the power quality area is studied.
