Abstract :
Due to the ever changing business environment and the emergence of hypercompetition in the global markets organizations are under tremendous pressure to produce new products with short life cycles, in less time and continuously. Such an output can be achieved through various ways including that of viewing an organization´s human resources as assets rather than costs, and using them in alignment with the organizational strategy. It is therefore of key importance that, the organization attracts, develops and retains the most appropriate human capital available from within as well as outside the organizational boundaries. This paper tries to highlight some of the issues that need to be considered as strategic functions of human resource management.
