Abstract :
Summary form only given. The Interim Report issued by the U.S. - Canada task force found that several of the causes of the August 14, 2003 blackout were similar to the causes of previous major blackouts in North America, implying that the recommendations from the teams who reviewed the earlier blackouts had not been implemented adequately or consistently. Mr. Meyer reviews the main themes of the current task force´s recommendations, the rationales for them, and plans for their implementation.
