This paper proposes a comparative study of different power electronics structures for an energy conversion system including a permanent magnet alternator driven at variable speed on a large range. The aim is to optimize an autonomous electric generation set for embedded applications. For example, it is used onboard vehicles to supply auxiliary electric devices of increasing power such as air conditioning
