Abstract
Fatigue affects a driver´s ability to control his or her cars safely. This paper proposes a novel real-time face tracking algorithm for detection of driver fatigue, based on tracking eyes, mouth and pose of a driver. The input face images are preprocessed to gray level images by using generalized Laplacian. Two eyes and mouth are labeled in binary image. According to pose of the driver, the system forms either isosceles feature triangle or right feature triangle to acquire potential face region. During the tracking of the video sequence, the confusing triangle is removed effectively. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the good performance of the proposed face tracking algorithm, and about 98% success rate is achieved.
