Title :
Cornerstone Interactive-a software architecture for multimedia broadband
Author_Institution :
BNR, Ottawa, Ont.
Abstract :
Cornerstone interactive is the software architecture being developed by Nortel to support the deployment of interactive multimedia services on residential broadband networks. Key considerations in the architecture are flexibility, openness and scalability. This paper describes the top level software organization of the main system components and highlights the importance of sessions and the DSM-CC protocol in achieving openness and scalability. It shows modular construction facilitating Cornerstone Interactive deployment with independence from underlying transport networks and hardware platform
