Abstract :
In this paper, the shadowing correlations among the multiple links between a coordinate node and sensor nodes in wireless BAN systems were investigated by measurements under everyday-life scenarios. We have developed a body-worn RSSI (receive signal strength indicator) logging system with off-the-shelf ZigBee sensor devices at 2.4 GHz for long time continuous and synchronized measurement among sensor nodes. The cross correlation coefficients calculated within a short time window were statistically characterized. The shadowing correlation will become useful information to develop and evaluate a multi-hop relay and a cooperative transmission scheme for increasing the reliability and power efficiency.
