Abstract
We describe a downsized C-band transceiver for VSAT. We have adopted conventional dual frequency conversion and reduced the transceiver size. It integrates four modules, the LNA, down-converter, up-converter, phase-locked LO and high power amplifier (HPA) into one housing. It measures only 245×170×145 mm3. The LO provides one synthesized output of 4742.5-5242.5 MHz with a step of 500 kHz, and another fixed output of 1112.5 MHz. The HPA outputs more than 3 W over 5925-6425 MHz, and is readily extendible to 5 or 10 Watts. The noise figure of the LNA is less than 40 K. It can operate from -30 °C to +70 °C and has been continuously in operation for more than eight months
